The new year must be good, I already have a new costume in the works. This one is geared toward winter weather. I attend maybe two cons per year during the cold season of January and February. All other cons are in the spring, summer, and fall which means it's HOT. When I wear my costumes during the winter, I freeze. Of course now that I have a warm costume, the January con will be 70 degrees and humid. Oh the deep South, how odd you are.
This costume is Victorian themed. I can either wear it as a true Victorian or add elements and make it steam punk. I think I'll wear it first as a Victorian. Pictures to be posted within the next week or so.

Well, 2009 was a wild ride. But all rides must end. I believe I emerged from my wild ride braver, stronger, wiser, and kinder. Wild rides can be scary as hell, but they also serve a purpose.
Thanks to all my wonderful friends for their support and kindness. Thank you to everyone that celebrated New Year's Eve with us. I lurve you all. You all made a special night even more special.
May everyone find peace, happiness, a greater wisdom in 2010.
Love conquers all, and heals all wounds.

Well, despite it all, I did indeed have a white Christmas for the first time in my life. Two feet of the white stuff to be exact. I started out last Wednesday driving the 600 miles home. Half way home, my parents called saying they hadn't bothered to bake anything. They figured I could do the baking. What did I need from the store? 0_0 I call shenanigans. I drive 600 miles to cook? Luckily, since the roads where bad with snow and ice it worked out and we stayed in. I baked a big batch of cookies and a Christmas cake; chocolate fudge with peppermint frosting.
Mid-way through Christmas day I headed another 70 miles north to my mother's home. She baked!! I just ate everything. I got lots of lovely gift certificates and such to buy some clothes with. Saturday, I went for a long run in the snow. It was the first exercise I'd had since driving up and it was refreshing.
Once I returned to the ATL I did some after Christmas shopping. I must have had perfect timing for the mark-downs. The store actually had things in my size. Granted, they just had one of each piece in my size, but the xs were there! Oddly, everything fit and looked cute. I was faced with deciding if I should buy it all or put some back. The bottom-line is that my size is hard to find and I need to grab things when I find them because they won't be there later. I pretty much ended spending almost all of my Christmas gift cards and money in one place. But now I have cute things that fit!
Now,I'm getting ready for New Year's Eve. Massive kitchen time on my part. You all will faint to know that my outfit this year is very simple and rather dull. HOWEVER, the jewelry is not. Serious retro 1960s glamor. I'll be wearing so much ice, you can just call me Skate Rink.
Everyone have a great New Year!
